"How to be a smarter Flier"
Cheerwiz.com  Here are 8 tips on how to become a smarter Flier! (COED and all-girl stunting): 1.) Understand the base - Understand what a base does underneath, what's easier for him/her, and what makes them struggle. By knowing all of this you will begin to understand how you can make subtle adjustments to make the stunt hit better. 2.) Understand the spot - By being a spot you understand what little adjustments are made to save a stunt. The spotter feels the interaction amongst both the base(s) and the flier which is great information to know. 3.) Safety - You must understand the proper ways to come down out of a stunt. Learn how to place your body, learn not to bail out of a stunt, and learn to catch yourself correctly. This will not only insure the longevity of the your body, but will also insure the safety of the base(s) and spots beneath you. 4.) Listen - Listen to what you coach, instructor, and others say to help fix stunts. The key is being able to distinguish between the good and bad advice. 5.) Instruct - Become an instructor yourself. By instructing others you will learn more than you will ever know about some of the stunts that you do daily. 6.) Practice - Practice your stunts often to get an understanding of what works and what doesn't. 7.) Body control - Understand body control by watching other fliers. Watch how they make adjustments and pay attention to what the good fliers do compared to what the not-so-good fliers do. 8.) Understand - You may do tips 1-6, but if you don't understand why you are lifting up "this" or squeezing "that", then you really are not understanding the stunt. So try to understand why things work and why certain things fail, and you will definitely become a smarter flier.
